Do You Work?

Memory Verse

Proverbs 10:4 - Hands that don’t want to work make you poor, but hands that work hard bring wealth to you.

This week we’d like to encourage you to MEMORIZE the verse and hide it deep in your heart. That is what God’s word says for us to do.

This means spending a few minutes each day reading the verse out loud and then repeating it over and over until you have it memorized. By the third day, you should be able to say most of the verse without even looking!

Proverbs 10:4 - Hands that don’t want to work make you poor, but hands that work hard bring wealth to you.

This verse is a contrast between hands that are slack or lazy and hands that are diligent and ready to work.

The slack hand is one that pretends to work, but is deceitful by making a show of it. This type of worker does not and will not succeed because they will be found wanting when they demonstrate what they have done. That is why lazy hands eventually lead to poverty.

Those who are diligent, by being honest workers, will succeed at work. They may not always receive the rewards in this life, but God knows them and will be faithful to them. In the long term, a hardworking person is more likely to succeed in gaining wealth, than a lazy and deceitful person.
