There are many types of families, by genes and blood, by inclusion (i.e., single parent families, adopted families, etc.). All families are imperfect, unfinished, in process.
Every family should be a greenhouse where God grows us toward eternity as HIS family in our families. A greenhouse is a glass building in which you grow plants that need protection. A kind and nurturing environment is needed to take care of a greenhouse and grow plants. The same environment is needed for a healthy family.
All of us are experiencing feelings and these feelings should be dealt with in a healthy way within healthy families. Our job is to lean on God to encourage and nurture our family. Family should be about nurturing, building up, and bringing about the eternal image of God. God's job is to fix people, ours is to trust him to do His job.
If you let yourself be loved by God in love, you will be love, healing, and encouragement to your family. The family of God is a family of LOVE. It's never too late to start over, begin again, to let love win!
Lord, heal my heart and move me to become an imitator of Christ and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a living sacrifice to God. Help me to nurture and love my family.
